Faculty Training Workshop – Effective Implementation of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) at the Undergraduate Level
Outcome-Based Education (OBE) is now a global standard in higher education, ensuring that teaching and assessment directly contribute to achieving defined learning outcomes. This two-day Faculty Training Workshop is designed to help university faculty understand, implement, and refine OBE practices in their courses. Through practical sessions and interactive discussions, participants will learn how to design measurable Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs), align them with Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs), and apply effective assessment and reporting strategies.
Who Should Attend?
Faculty members interested in taking a leading role in running or developing OBE systems in their institutes.
Workshop Objectives
This workshop provides hands-on guidance and institutional context to enable faculty members to confidently implement OBE across the semester.
Faculty will gain practical skills in:
- Introduction to OBE Framework
- Philosophy and principles of OBE.
- Key components: Program Educational Objectives (PEOs), Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs), Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs).
- Designing CLOs
- Writing clear, measurable CLO statements aligned with PLOs.
- Mapping CLOs to Bloom’s Taxonomy and identifying cognitive levels.
- Ensuring curriculum alignment and outcome traceability.
- Assessment Design
- Developing quizzes, assignments, exams, projects.
- Rubrics and marking schemes.
- Applying direct and indirect assessment practices.
- Implementation & Reporting
- Recording and tracking CLOs, assessments, and results.
- Preparing OBE-related reports:
- Start of Semester Meeting Report
- Pre-Midterm Course Analysis Report
